What is the Conversion Tracking Service?

Conversion Tracking is a tool that shows you a wealth of useful information. It tells you how many users who clicked through from Heureka completed a purchase in your online store – down to the level of individual categories and products. The Conversion Tracking service is available to any online store registered on Heureka.

In order to track conversions, you need to implement the Conversion Tracking script in your online store. Based on this script, your click statistics (in your store administration on Heureka) will show how many clicks—and from which products—turned into orders.

For example, if a user clicks on Product A on Heureka on November 10, but buys Product B in your store on November 20, the conversion will be attributed to the date of the click (November 10 for Product A). Conversions can be recorded up to 30 days after the click.

New vs. Old Conversion Tracking

You can have both conversion tracking scripts—the old one and the new one—deployed on your online store at the same time. In your store management statistics, we display data from both versions separately (new/old).

If you notice discrepancies between the statistics, it is likely because the new tracking system includes VAT, captures conversions from Safari and Firefox browsers, and tracks orders placed via our mobile app. Additionally, in your store administration, you can choose whether you want to display costs with or without VAT.

By default, we assume you are sending order values including VAT. If you prefer to display costs excluding VAT, you can easily adjust this setting in the administration panel. It is essential, however, that this setting matches the actual format of the order values you send us—either with or without VAT.

Please note: Conversion Tracking reports in the store management panel are currently only available for the old tracking version. You can find them in the administration panel under the “Performance and Cost Overview” section.

If you are switching to the new Conversion Tracking, both the location and format of the key have changed. Unlike the old Conversion Tracking, where you used the “Public Key for Conversion Tracking” (which was 32 characters long), the key for the new Conversion Tracking can be found in your store administration under the “Conversion Tracking – new” tab -> in the bottom-right corner labeled “Your API key” (which now contains 36 characters).

On that same page, you will also find the script for the product detail page and the script for the Thank-you page.

Setting Up the New Conversion Tracking Service

You can implement the new Conversion Tracking on your online store in two ways—either using a supported e-commerce platform or via a custom implementation.

  1. Via E-Commerce Platform
If your store runs on an e-commerce platform that supports the new Conversion Tracking, simply enter “Your API key” in the platform’s administration.
  2. Custom Implementation via Tracking Script

If you are implementing the tracking manually, you need to add two scripts:

Product Detail Script – crucial for proper conversion attribution.
Thank-You Page Script – to capture completed orders.

You also need to make sure that after a user is redirected from Heureka to your store, the click identifier (hgtid) remains in the URL. This parameter, along with the product detail script, is required for conversion tracking.

    Example:
    https://[store-name]/iphone-13-128gb-black-d6731111.htm?utm_source=heureka_cz&utm_medium=product&utm_campaign=heureka_cz_mobile-phones_ios_x_ri036b2&hgtid=a6a0b088-773e-4e84-a847-bbb3197632ee

How to Verify a Successful Setup?

You can verify whether the new Conversion Tracking is deployed correctly in your store administration using the “Verify installation” button.

If no information appears, it means we have not received any orders through the script yet, and therefore cannot verify the installation.

This feature serves only for the initial verification of your setup. Once the first order reaches our system, it will display as “Successful installation” in the administration panel, even if the script is later removed or incorrectly configured.

How to Tell If the Service Isn’t Working Properly?

You can verify whether you are sending us data correctly for the new Conversion Tracking in your store administration under the Statistics – New section.

This section displays orders with incorrect data from the last 7 days (showing only the last 10 incorrect orders as a sample). The listed errors can be fixed using the following guide:

Errors in the new Conversion Tracking fall into two categories:

  • Errors requiring action by the store – these can affect tracking accuracy and must be fixed.
  • Warnings – these do not prevent the script itself from functioning, but they may cause inaccuracies in statistics (for example, in prices or order counts).

The most common implementation error occurs when the total order price does not match the sum of individual product prices (PRICE_DONT_MATCH). We always recommend verifying that this has been configured correctly.

You can find a list of all errors here.

Errors may also occur in specific data sent via the script on the thank-you page. Most frequently, they involve the following tags:

  • ORDER_ID
  • PRODUCT_ITEM_ID
  • PRODUCT_NAME
  • TOTAL_PRICE_VAT
  • SET_CURRENCY

Focus primarily on the script implementation on the thank-you page—it is key to accurate order tracking.

In these cases, we recommend checking whether the values in these fields are correctly populated and properly sent.
